Looks like I'll be too busy to go to any conventions before classes end in the spring. Which would mean
Animazement in Raleigh during Memorial Day weekend, unless I get a summer internship out-of-state that starts before then. I really want to go to
Anime North in Toronto, but it's also Memorial Day weekend. In fact, they're both always on Memorial Day weekend, so I can't go to both.
Which one I go to would affect what cosplay I make and bring. I'd rather not take anything too big or with lots of props on an airplane. Airplane tickets from RDU to there are a little pricey for my tastes, plus there's luggage fees. I did a lot of research on other large conventions in Canada (i.e.
Otakuthon in Montreal, Anime Evolution in Vancouver,
Animethon in Edmonton,
Otafest in Calgary,
Ai-Kon in Winnipeg). Most of those are about the size of Animazement, but Anime North is the biggest by a factor of 3; it's one of the largest in North America, around the size of
Anime Weekend Atlanta,
Anime Central (in Chicago) and
Anime Boston. If I'm going all the way up there, might as well maximize the opportunity.
